Several members of GFWC Woman’s Club of Bridgeport and GFWC Juniors attended the North Central Workshop in Shinnston hosted by the Woman’s Club of Shinnston.

 

Chris Mullett, executive director of the Clarksburg Mission was the guest speaker.  He gave a very informative talk about the backpack program at the mission. Many students only eat the lunch provided by the school and don’t eat until lunch the next day, so food is sent home with them. This has become a statewide problem as well. Many counties have adopted this concept. There are many other organizations and churches in the county that help with this project. Those attending the meeting donated snack foods to be used for the program.
