Five Bridgeport High School Art Students Capture Statewide Pennies for Art Recognition through GFWC

The 117th General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) West Virginia Convention was held March 16 – 18 at The Greenbrier Resort, White Sulphur Springs, WV. During the convention a State-wide Pennies for Arts contest was held. Seven Bridgeport High School Art Students entered the competition along with high school art students from throughout the state.
 
The purpose of the GFWC West Virginia Pennies for Arts contest is to engage the youth in grades 9th through 12th in a statewide Arts Contest held annually at the State Convention. The GFWC Woman’s Club of Bridgeport sponsored seven students from Bridgeport High School. Students winning ribbons for their entries were: 1st Place Ribbons– Tighe Coleman, Pastel Pencils; Quinn Ratliff, Acrylic Paints; Abigail Davis, Graphite Pencil. 3rd Place Ribbons, Ruby Jackson, Colored Pencils; Morgan Sprouse, Oil Acrylics.
 
Tighe Coleman (BHS Senior) won 2nd Place Best Overall and Quinn Ratliff (BHS Junior) won 3rd Place Best Overall. Both students won monetary awards for their entries.
