Former Tom Davis Garden Center Building is Demolished as New Owner Develops Property

By Julie Perine on July 12, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The West Main Street building that housed the former Tom Davis Garden Center has been demolished.

Bridgeport Community Development Director Andrea Kerr said the property owner pulled a building permit June 29, but work didn’t take place until earlier this week.

Property owner is Eric Cochran, owner of Neel’s Fencing. Cochran purchased the property in 2017. Cochran said at that time that he planned to develop the property, which he considered a prime location right along Route 50. His plans were to level the lot, install a retaining wall and remove some trees and do some earthwork, developing the lot into a full acre. Cochran said in May of 2017 that he had been contacted by restaurant chains and others who had potential interest in the location.

Connect-Bridgeport is working to get more information.

Tom Davis Garden Center opened in the late-1980s and was in operation until the death of owner Tom Davis in January of 2016.
