Frontier Communications (NASDAQ: FTR) has increased broadband speeds to hundreds of households and businesses in Bridgeport and nearby areas, General Manager Chip VanAlsburg announced today.

“Frontier is demonstrating its commitment to delivering broadband service to residents and businesses in Harrison County and north-central West Virginia,” VanAlsburg said. “We have a strong local team here, and we are positioned to support our customers and provide them with leading-edge Internet access. We’re excited to announce the completion of this major project in the Bridgeport community.”

He recommended that residents and businesses in the following areas contact Frontier to determine service availability: Valley Drive, Rainbow Road, Rivendell Road, Village Drive, White Oaks Boulevard, Ridgeway Drive, Westwood Avenue and Archwood Avenue.

“Businesses here that handle large amounts of data have access to Metro Ethernet. We provide secured networks at dedicated speeds that are necessary to compete locally or globally,” said VanAlsburg, noting that Frontier has made services of one gigabyte and greater available in Bridgeport since December 2010.

“Businesses of almost any size can locate in Bridgeport, W.Va., have access to our network and compete globally,” he added. “Our local economy has the talent and resources, and Frontier has the network to support their broadband needs.”
