GFWC Woman's Club of Bridgeport Holds April Meeting

The GFWC Woman’s Club of Bridgeport held its monthly meeting Thursday, April 11 at the Benedum Civic Center.
Club Members enjoyed a presentation from Joe Shuttleworth, Director of Parks and Recreation regarding the city’s Indoor Sports and Recreation Complex to be built near the Recreation Complex baseball facility located on Forrester Boulevard, just off Route 131.
Also included in the program were the Youth Writers Winners for contest held in the Bridgeport Schools. First, second and third place winners were awarded a certificate along with a monetary gift.
Those receiving awards were as follows:
Poetry: Rachael Holmes, Ella Sherrell, Ava Pool, Tyler Randolph, Grant Lively, Breanne Carter,
Lurel Muhly-Alexander, Luke Pinti and Raianne Beckner.
Short Stories: Joseph McDonald, Easton McDougal, Mason Knechtel, Jalin McKinney, Alexis Arbonaise, Elizabeth Spagnuolo, Myleigh Smell, Lyza Halterman, John Honce, Hafsa Sabbaugh, Ashley Hart and Sydney Poling.
State winners were Hafsa Sabbaugh, Myleigh Smell, Joseph McDonald, Ryler Randolph, Lurel Muhly-Alexander and Jalin McKinney. These students’ manuscripts will now be entered in the National Competition.
