GFWC Woman's Club of Bridgeport Holds Make, Bake & Take Auction to Raise Money for Heifer Project

GFWC Woman's Club of Bridgeport continues its quest to service members of our community, state and globe. The organization recently voted to purchase a heifer through Heifer International to provide food for a family in need. Coming along with a $500 pricetag, the project was an ambitious one. The ladies decided to host and partiicpate in a Make, Bake & Take Auction. After members crafted items for the sale - everything from homemade cherry pies and brownies to whimsical wreaths, flower arrangements and crocheted dish towels - the wares were auctioned off to the highest bidder. The auction took place Thursday at the Benedum Civic Center. Serving as auctioneer was club member Shirley Hadorn. The auction generated more than enough funds to purchase the heifer which will be provided to a family in need. The club's monthly meeting was also held during this time, as well as Valentine-themed treats and beverages shared. Pictured above and on cover are Shirley Hadorn and Judy Osborne.
