It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas at the Benedum Civic Center. Starting Monday morning, the scene in the main ballroom was something like that of Santa’s workshop. Busy hands were tying bows, cleaning glass hurricane lamps, hanging pine and, of course, decorating the Christmas tree.

 

The decorating project, said Parks and Recreation personnel Sally Hastings and Cathy Csonka, is a work in progress. This year, visitors to the city hub during the Christmas season can expect to see some brand new embellishments, all revolving around a traditional holiday style. By the end of Wednesday’s work day, the decorating should be complete throughout the building. Assisting have been members of the Bridgeport High School Key Club and the Governor Johnson Garden Club.
