Gov. Tomblin Unveils WVDMV Self-Service Kiosks

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin unveiled the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) self-service kiosks at the West Virginia State Fair this past week. Gov. Tomblin requested the development of the kiosks in 2015 to provide more convenient options - in addition to the online application - for state residents to renew vehicle registrations without visiting a DMV office.

"These kiosks will be another innovative way to provide West Virginians expanded access to basic state services," Gov. Tomblin said. "I applaud DMV Commissioner Pat Reed and her team for working to provide this convenient alternative for vehicle registration renewals, and I look forward to seeing even more options at these kiosks in the near future."

Beginning at the end of September, the kiosks are slated to be placed in easily accessible locations, including grocery stores and shopping centers. With touch-screen monitors, the kiosks will be able to complete a vehicle registration renewal in less than two minutes through debit or credit card payments, and will print a registration card and decal during the transaction. According to the DMV, by November West Virginians also will be able to renew drivers' licenses at the kiosks.
