Hannah Jeffers and Gorvin Weng, Named Students of Month for February 2024 at Bridgeport High School

Bridgeport High School Principal Renee' Mathews has announced that Hannah Jeffers and Gorvin Weng are the February, 2024 Students of the Month. Below is a profile of each student.
 
Hannah Jeffers is the daughter of Patrick and Missy Jeffers.  She has been a perfect honor roll student every semester at BHS, receiving her academic letters and lamps each year for her success and hard work.  Hannah has taken numerous AP and Dual Credit courses earning her several college credits.  
 
Hannah is an active member of Bridgeport High School and in the community.  From her freshman through junior years, she served as an executive board member of Student Council.  During her senior year, Hannah serves as a student body officer holding the roles of Membership and Publicist.  Throughout her years in Student Council, Hannah served as co-chairperson for the Junior/Senior Prom court dance, co-chairperson of the Clarksburg Mission dinner, and co-chairperson of organizing the BHS sections of the Trunk or Treat through Johnson Elementary.  
     
Hannah has participated in several other clubs while at BHS.  She was inducted into the National Honor Society her junior year.  Hannah is also a member of the Key Club, Drug Free Club where she holds the role of President, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and served as manager of the BHS Greenhouse.  
     
During her years at BHS, Hannah has enjoyed working with various community service organizations such as: Angel Tree, Challenger League, Operation Christmas Child, Shop for Tots, Salvation Army, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Bridgeport Health Care Center, Harrison County Humane Society, Shepherds Corner, UHC Holly Ball, and One King Soccer Camp.  
     
Hannah has been a BHS Girls Varsity Soccer team member for four years where she served as a captain her senior year.  During her sophomore year, the soccer team was awarded the WVSSAC Academic Achievement Award Team sport.  She has played travel soccer for ten years too. Hannah was also a member of the BHS Girls Basketball team her freshman year.  
     
During her freshman year, Hannah was selected to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Award.  Also, during her senior year, she was selected to attend the Perry Initiative Outreach Program at WVU.  
     
Hannah attends Jewel City Church where she is an active member in the youth group and serves as a nursery worker.   
     
Hannah is employed as a salesclerk at Bonnie Belles Pastries.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hanging out with her friends, traveling, and working out at the gym.  
     
In the Fall, she will be attending West Virginia University and pursuing a degree in Nursing.  Following her undergrad, she plans on continuing her education to become a Nurse Anesthetist. 
     
Hannah is extremely thankful for the amazing opportunities that BHS administration, teachers, and coaches have given her over the past four years. 
 
Gorvin Weng is the son of Helen Weng and Jimmy Weng along with being the brother of Eelynna and Gavin Weng. 
 
He is currently attending Bridgeport High School and in his senior year. He is dedicated to many activities within his school such as Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Choir, Quiz Bowl, Theatre, Student Council Executive Board, Model United Nations, and of course, swimming. He is also a part of Spanish Club, Spanish Honorary, National Thespian Honor Society, National Honor Society, a member of All-County Band on numerous occasions. With this, he has also led a plethora of service projects with many of his clubs and activities. His favorite activities include performing, composing music, and writing music. He also likes to crack jokes and explore what goes on in the ever-changing world. 
 
He is currently enrolled in many classes including his favorites which are AP Music Theory, AP American Government and Politics, and AP Literature. He plans on attending New York University although his is undecided on his major.
 
He is extremely elated and thankful for the Bridgeport High School faculty for selecting him as February 2024’s Student of the Month.
