Immediately following the Bridgeport High School Financial Aid Night, Harrison County will be hosting nearly 40 colleges, universities, and post-secondary training options at Liberty High School on Wednesday, October 23 from 6-9 p.m.  The night is designed to help seniors and their families navigate the next few months of high school as they prepare for the college transition, but for the first time, the event will also cater to underclassmen, offering a chance to explore their options early.

In addition to the post-secondary educational representatives, the Harrison County College and Career Night will also welcome around 20 companies representing careers in aerospace, architecture, nursing, cosmetology, engineering, oil and gas, radiology, and medicine.  United Technical Center will be on site to showcase their programs and job placement rates in North Central West Virginia and recruiters from all branches of the military will be available during the event as well.

The event rotates among the Harrison County high schools each year and gives students the opportunity to get an early start on the process of applying to college, get answers to questions and help the transition go more smoothly.

Harrison County Schools has been hosting this event for more than a decade, offering parents and students post-secondary options as well as the chance to win prizes, including cash. The event is free and open to the public and drawings will be held throughout the evening.

As is tradition, BHS counselors will continue to college preparation process with seniors throughout the year, helping them complete scholarship and college applications, helping to arrange job shadowing and internships, and hosting guest speakers that better prepare families for the senior year.  Families can also visit www.calendarwiz.com/bhsindiansto find additional information on scholarship deadlines and events pertaining to graduation.
