Healthy Bridgeport Partners with Healthy Nutter Fort to Bring Second Weight Loss Competition to Harrison County

Healthy Bridgeport, in partnership with Healthy Harrison has joined forces with Healthy Nutter Fort in an effort to expand their impact across the county.
In the summer of 2020, Healthy Harrison, a local non-profit organization, created a Health Games competition, in which different Harrison County communities competed to win $50,000 in cash to implement a health and wellness plan for their community. Bridgeport, Nutter Fort, Downtown Clarksburg, Shinnston and Northview presented their plans to a panel of judges, and while Bridgeport was named the winner of the Health Games, Healthy Harrison surprised all the teams funding to implement their plans.
Healthy Nutter Fort decided to modify their original plan and take a similar approach to Bridgeport.
“When asked whether we would be willing to help Healthy Nutter Fort, we were excited for the opportunity to help impact health and wellness beyond Bridgeport,” said Abby Veigel, Healthy Bridgeport Program Lead.
Veigel met with members of the Nutter Fort team to help craft the Bridgeport plan into something that would work for Nutter Fort. Not only do Nutter Fort residents have the ability to access the Healthy Bridgeport app and all of its resources, but they now have their own Biggest Loser and 10% Takedown competitions and have very generously opened it up beyond Nutter Fort to any Harrison County resident, as long as they aren’t already participating in Healthy Bridgeport or Downtown Clarksburg’s competition.
The first and second place male and female who win the most weight will each receive $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. Anyone who loses at least 10% of their body weight will go into a drawing to win one of three $500 prizes.
