We all have them. Stuffed way in the back of the closet. Old prom dresses, homecoming formals, or the classic bridesmaid dresses that we swore we’d wear again. 

 

Hospice Care Corporation is giving you an out. Now you can donate the dresses and feel no guilt whatsoever about parting with them because it all goes to a good cause.

 

The Cinderella Project, sponsored by Hospice Care Corporation, will be collecting formal wear, shoes and accessories through March 4.  Hospice will then sell the dresses on Saturday, March 14, at the B&O Junction in Reedsville. Prices will start at just $5 and there will be door prizes and giveaways throughout the day. 

 

“We wanted to give young women the opportunity to find affordable fashions for prom and help make their big day special,” said organizer Sherry Newcome. 

 

It is estimated that the average teen spends over $1000 on prom and this sale will allow young women to find the perfect look for much less. 

 

“We will also have personal stylists on hand to put together entire outfits,” said Newsome.

 

Locally, donations may be dropped off at Cooper Law Offices, located at 240 W. Main Street in Bridgeport. 

 

“We found out about the project on the news and noticed there were not drop off locations near Bridgeport, so we volunteered to participate,” said Jami Cooper. 

 

BHS Junior Savannah Blythe is also raising awareness of the project throughout the school and encouraging everyone to donate to this worthy cause.  In addition to dress donations, volunteers and prize donations are also needed for the day of the event. All proceeds from the sale will go to Hospice Care Corporation,  a community-based program that provides services throughout North Central West Virginia. The services are available on-site, in the home, or in one of our offices. They offer help and support to those who have experienced loss due to death or other life circumstances.
