Independently-Owned Champion Pharmacy Now Open at The Square

In June of 2019, it was announced that Champion Pharmacy would occupy an 1,800-square foot storefront at The Square in Bridgeport.
Just this week, the pharmacy opened its doors.

“It’s been at a good time because we’re able to provide people with over-the-counter medicines, but it’s also been at a crazy time (due to the COVID-19 pandemic),” said Katlyn Logsdon, pharmacy manager. “Overall, it’s been good. We’re getting to meet a lot of people and we’re meeting all the criteria to keep things safe during this time.”

The full-service pharmacy offers both in-store and drive-through service and is open 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. through 3 p.m. Sunday.

“The drive-through helps, especially with everything going on with the Coronavirus,” Logsdon said. “It makes it easier for people to feel better protected.”

In addition to medicinal products, the store carries a selection of Melissa & Doug toys, Sarris candies, pet supplies, grooming accessories and Lorann oils.

Logsdon, a full-time pharmacist, is one of three employees which the pharmacy employs. Also on staff are a part-time pharmacist and pharmacy technician.

“We’re excited to be here, and we definitely love working for the independent pharmacy because it’s a chance to form relationships with our patients,” Logsdon said. “The location seems to be great. We’re near some of the clinics and MedExpress, the street seems really busy and there’s good parking and good traffic in and out of this plaza.”

Owned by Eric Belldina, Michael LeMasters and Ron Selders, the independent pharmacy now occupies four sites including those in Monongalia and Preston counties.

Belldina said he and his co-owners wanted to provide a level of service that chain stores perhaps cannot provide. The store offers medicine flavoring for children, adults and even pets, as well as non-sterile compounding, which involves putting tablets and capsules in liquid form. Champion Pharmacy also offers a free kids vitamin program, renewable on a monthly basis.

Champion Pharmacy is located next to Fat Tire bicycle shop at The Square, located just off South Virginia Avenue.
