FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Fairmont State University Department of Athletics announced today that the Bridgeport Recreation Complex will become the new official home of the Fighting Falcons Baseball team.

The community is invited to join FSU President Maria Rose, members of the FSU Board of Governors, members of the Fairmont State Athletic Association and Harrison County and City of Bridgeport officials for the first FSU baseball game at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15. A special first pitch will commemorate the new home for the baseball team.

“With its strong athletic tradition, Fairmont State is thankful to Harrison County for its support of our student-athletes over the years, and we look forward to the beginning of a new season for Fighting Falcons baseball in a new home. Many of our students and alumni live in Harrison County, so we’re thrilled to offer them opportunities to support FSU Athletics even closer to home. The University is proud to expand its positive fan experience and family friendly atmosphere to this wonderful facility in Bridgeport,” said Dr. Maria Rose, FSU President.

The Fighting Falcons baseball team is scheduled to play four Mountain East Conference series at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex on Forrester Boulevard in Bridgeport. Locations for the Urbana (April 12-13) and Shepherd (May 3-4) series are still to be announced.

“Working with Kim Haws, Drew Pomeroy, Michelle Duez and Don Burton has been a great experience for the Athletic Department, and we have been impressed with the Bridgeport facility and opportunities for growth of our baseball program that it provides,” said Athletic Director Tim McNeely.

The Falcons will play Saturday/Sunday series against UVa-Wise (March 15-16), Charleston (March 22-23) and Notre Dame College (April 26-27) in Bridgeport. In addition, the Falcons will host Glenville State on Tuesday, March 25, in Bridgeport.

“Our student-athletes are excited for the beginning of the season. We invite all Falcon fans to come out and support FSU baseball,” said Head Coach George Yanchak.
