SUBMITTED BY JOHNSON ELEMENTARY FOURTH GRADE TEACHER KIM MCCORD:
With some help from the public - and all classes at Johnson Elementary - the JES fourth grade classes hosted a school supply drive to benefit victims of Hurricane Florence at Morton Elementary School in Jacksonville, NC. The school houses about 700 students, including three preschool classrooms, which sustainied significant damage.

Thursday, the JES fourth graders were packing up boxes of supplies and preparing them for transit to Morton Elementary. The collections consisted of art supplies - from crayons and glue sticks to paint and paintbrushes and miscellaneous items - books, classroom toys - like blocks and puzzles - and CD players and music CDs. A local business picked up the tab for shipping the items.

Teachers and students of JES feel so fortunate to be in a brand new beautiful school building and wants to share some love to their neighbors to the south. A local business donated money to cover shipping of the items and all packages are being sent out today. The name of the drive was "Kids Helping Kids."
