Juliet Hart and Preston Peasak have been named Bridgeport High School Students of the Month for March, 2019.

Only seniors are eligible for this honor, said Principal Matt DeMotto. Those who have been selected were chosen by the entire staff by ballot.

“We asked that teachers consider a variety of variables including character, respect for others, effort, attendance, extra-curricular
participation, leadership, trustworthiness and academics,” he said. “We select 10 boys and 10 girls throughout the year and honesty, we have far more than 10 who meet the above criteria.  This is always a tough decision for our faculty we appreciate the seriousness with which they take this process.”

Juliet Hart is the daughter of David and Melissa Hart. She has been a part of the varsity volleyball and varsity track team all four years of high school. In 2016, she was a member of the girls’ track and field state championship team along with being on the state runner-up volleyball team. In 2018, Juliet was a member of the 4x100 and 4x200 state championship relay teams for track and field, as well as a member of the first state champion volleyball team from Bridgeport, WV.

Juliet is a member of the National Honor Society and Drug-Free Club of America. She is also an active member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she has volunteered for various activities. Juliet has been a piano student of Carla Engle for eight years. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling and spending time with her family. She has also been employed at Harrison County Parks and Recreation as an assistant park leader this past summer.

Juliet will be attending Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pa. this fall. While attending SFU, she will be studying occupational therapy where she can earn her master’s degree in a five-year accelerated program. Juliet’s passion and goal is to work with young children in this field.

Preston is the son of Timothy and Veronica Peasak. He was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum at the age of 3. He has worked extremely hard to adapt and overcome the social challenges faced by all children with ASD. Preston was active in sports for many years growing up, although he has not participated in any sports while attending BHS, but rather has focused on his academics. Despite any challenges he has faced, Preston has remained an honor roll student and has earned his academic letter and academic lamps at BHS.

Preston is a member of Key Club and of the Drug-Free Club of America. In his free time, he loves traveling, especially to Orlando, Fla. where he can enjoy the animals at destinations such as Sea World and Gatorland. He enjoys reading, playing with his furry and scaly companions and talking to and playing games with family and friends. Preston also enjoys watching documentaries and comedies. He is also a co-author of a book published in 2017 called “Memories: Treasured Moments in Time.”

Preston is set to attend Fairmont State University in the fall of 2019. He plays to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology and move on to a career in zoology as he was born with a love for animals and the natural world.
