Meet the 2019 Bridgeport High School Senior Class Representatives Kirstin George and Tristan Nolte.

George is the daughter of Christopher and Alicia George. She serves as student body president and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was selected as 2018 BHS Homecoming maid of honor.

She is a four-year starter and three-year captain on the Lady Indians varsity soccer team and has received All-County, All-Region, All-Conference and All-State honors. She has been on the varsity track team since her freshman year and is a member of the 2016 and 2018 state championship winning teams. She has been part of three state championship winning relays and is a member of the relay team which as of 2018 held the 4X400 meter state record. She is also a member of the BHS swim team.

George enjoys and is active in Young Life as well as the youth group at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she participates as a lector and Sunday School teacher.

Along with Vincent Pinti, she was named BHS Student of the Month for October 2018.

George said she is very happy to hold the title of Senior Class Representative, an honor based on faculty vote.

“It’s important to me because I have tried my best during the past four years to do everything right and put myself in a spot to be successful,” she said.

George said these past four years have laid a good foundation for her post-secondary education. She plans to study engineering at West Virginia University in the fall.

“The people I’ve gotten to know and classes I have taken at BHS have prepared me to do hard work at WVU next year and during work in the future,” she said. “The teachers I’ve had the privilege of knowing made sure to keep me on track and taught me the importance of hard work.”

BHS Assistant Principal Renee Mathews said faculty considered various criteria in selecting senior class reps. School spirit and involvement, as well as good character were considered in selecting good representatives of the senior class.

George and Nolte will both address their graduating peers and guests at Tuesday’s senior assembly, during which time scholarships and various other awards will be presented.

“In my speech, I am trying to focus less on my accomplishments at BHS and more on everything that I have learned it takes to be successful,” George said. “I hope to give my class credit for helping me become the person I am today and reflect on what I have been thankful for the past four years.”

Tristan Nolte is the son of Isaac and Kim Nolte. He was a four-year starter and three-year captain of the varsity soccer team. His senior year, he was named 1st Team All-State and Region II Player of the Year. He also tried his hand at tennis this year, playing line 1 doubles with Ty Gande for the BHS boys’ tennis team, which finished the season with a stellar 13-1 record.

He is a member of the National Honor Society, Drug-Free Club, Quiz Bowl and Ping Pong Club. When not busy with school and extracurriculars, he is involved with his family’s business.

Nolte plans to study either mechanical or aerospace engineering.

Along with Kristen Crowder, he was named BHS Student of the Month for August 2018.
