Kris Mazurik, BHS Alum, Fights Cancer with Hometown Support

By Trina Runner on September 21, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

At 28, Kris Mazurik has some of the greatest blessings any guy could ask for: great friends, a good job and a loving family. At 28, he is also facing one of the greatest challenges of his life.  On April 18 of this year, Kris was diagnosed with T Cell ALL Leukemia and Lymphoma.

It’s no surprise that Mazurik’s positive attitude and faith have helped guide him through this tough fight.  He has always persevered when faced with a challenge.  The BHS alumnus is proud to be part of the Bridgeport community that is so famously supportive of its citizens.  His family and friends have organized several fundraisers to help Mazurik pay for his medical expenses so he can concentrate on being healthy again.

On Sept. 27, there will be a Spaghetti Dinner in his honor at the Bridgeport Presbyterian Church from 3:00-7:00.  The cost per plate is $8 and all proceeds fund TEAM Mazurik in the Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  On October 11, an Elimination Dinner will be held at 3:00 at Brickside Grille in Bridgeport.  The cost is $30 for one or $50 for two and again, all proceeds help with Kris’ medical bills.

Those who cannot attend either of these events can donate directly to TEAM Mazurik by going to http://pages.lightthenight.org/wpa/Pttbrgh14/TeamMazurik.  The Light the Night Event will be held at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on October 9 to raise awareness and funds for those families affected by Leukemia and Lymphoma.
