Long-Time Law Enforcement Officer Serving as Chief in Several Cities, Chris D. Minor, Running for Sheriff

Chris D. Minor has filed to run for Harrison County Sheriff in the May 2024, election.
 
He is a 1992 Washington Irving High School graduate and a 1997 graduate of the West Virginia State Police Academy 1997.
 
Minor began their professional career at the age of 16 as a junior firefighter at the Stonewood Volunteer Fire Department. Over the next 24 years, he dedicated himself to serving the community of Stonewood and Harrison County, eventually rising to the position of Fire Chief. Simultaneously, he embarked on a successful law enforcement career, serving various municipalities, including the City of Stonewood, City of Salem, City of Anmoore, and City of Shinnston, where he held the positions of Police Chief and Fire Chief concurrently.
 
He is a single dad and takes pride in his two children Whitney and Wyatt and instilled his deep commitment to family and community through his own example. Chis is currently employed as a compliance investigator in gas transmission at BHEGT&S. He remains actively involved in the Congregational Missionary Church, where he has served as a youth leader and security officer for many years.
 
Minor believes his vision for Harrison County Sheriff Department encompasses a holistic approach, addressing both citizen and law enforcement concerns. With a focus on collaboration, community involvement, and a commitment to tackling critical issues, Chris is determined to bring positive change to Harrison County.
 
If elected, Minor's goals and objectives for Harrison County as sheriff will be dedicated to several initiatives. Among them are a police presence throughout Harrison County with no rural area being forgotten. Minor is committed to maintaining a visible police presence throughout Harrison County, ensuring that every corner of the community is covered and protected.
 
Another area where he aims look at is fostering a strong sense of community policing. The plan is to build a collaborative relationship between law enforcement and the community. He envisions a safer and more united Harrison County.
 
Minor will look to eradicate drug problems in Harrison County. The effort will be to acknowledge the severe drug epidemic in West Virginia, particularly in Harrison County, and looking to make a difference. Minor plans to emphasize the urgency of addressing drug addiction and overdose deaths. He plans to take a multi-faceted approach, collaborating with experts, recovery ministries, and treatment.

Finally, he will look to address law enforcement concerns. He said he recognizes that current law enforcement officers understand the specific needs of Harrison County, and he pledges to listen and address their concerns effectively.
