By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 14, 2021 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to their Facebook page, the Mannington Volunteer Fire Department's Chief Jimmy Moran has passed away. Earlier in the week, the same social media page was asking for prayers.

In that post, it was stated Moran was battling COVID-19 and was at Ruby Memorial on a ventilator. The department was askig for prayers as Moran had developed pneumonia.

Sadly, he passed away Wednesday. The post from their Facebook page is below.

"It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of our Fire Chief Jimmy Moran. We would like to thank everyone for the prayers in this difficult time. We ask that everyone please keep the Mannington Fire Department and the family of Chief in your prayers over the next couple of days. A fireman’s funeral will be held. No time or date has been set at this time."

Editor's Note: Connect-Bridgeport would like to extend our sympathies to the Moran family, the Mannington Fire Department, the community and all brave men and women who selflessly give of their time to serve their communities as volunteers.
