By Julie Perine on May 27, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Today’s Bridgeport High School Senior Face is Miranda Kress, a four-year member of the Lady Indians 2019 Class AA State Championship cheer team.

Hey Miranda! Thanks for being today’s Senior Face. Tell me about your four years at BHS ...
I am very involved in Student Council where I am study body membership and was an active participant in community service projects. I’m also French Club treasurer. I am a state champion cheerleader for this 2019 season. I am also in National Honor Society and French Honorary.

What are your best high school memories?
Football games were always my favorite. Being on the sidelines is an unforgettable feeling.

What are your post-graduation plans?
I plan to attend Ohio University in the fall and major in communication science and disorders to be a pediatric speech pathologist!

What is your life’s dream? Where do you see yourself in 10 or 15 years?
My dream is to work in the Birth to Three program and be able to help families better communicate with each other. I see myself in an elementary school or a hospital as a speech pathologist.

Did any friends or teachers make a major impact on you that you will carry with you beyond BHS?
I have a great group of friends that will forever be held in a special place in my heart. I’ve had many teachers make an impact on my life, but to name two, my English teacher Mrs. Lohmann has been a school mom for me all four years of my high school experience, but especially this year. The other is Madame Garrett. She has been my French teacher for four years and I also took the Europe trip with the French class this past summer.

Do you work?
I am a cheer instructor for Powerhouse Athletics in Fairmont, but I am returning to work at Starbucks.

Tell me some of your favorite things … music, hobbies, teams, etc.
I spend my time crocheting, hanging out with friends (or family as of right now) and being in the sun when it’s nice out. It has been great being able to have time with loved ones recently.

Tell me your thoughts on the COVID-19 pandemic/school lockdown. How has this impacted your senior year? What, if anything, have you learned from all this?
It has been very sad to lose my senior year in the midst of schoolwork and cheering for basketball season, but I understand the severity of the situation. I won’t be able to have my college orientation in person, but it is necessary for the health of everyone. It has taught me patience overall with having to rest in the uncertainty and not sweat the small stuff.

Tell me about your family …
My mom is Terri Kress and my dad is Theodore Kress. I have one sister, Kenzie Kress and one dog, Sadie.
