By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on April 07, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A member of the Bridgeport Fire Department has tested positive for COVID-19. This person acquired the virus from another member of the household who recently tested positive. The BFD member was placed off work after the positive results within the household and received a positive result while off work.

BFD has been taking every precaution possible to ensure the safety of personnel and the community, and is continuing to do so. BFD is currently working proactively with the Harrison-Clarksburg Health Department as well as State Health Department.

BFD will have no change in operations and will continue to serve our community in the highest regard.

Fire Chief Phil Hart said eight members of staff, which includes the positive test, were on quarantine.
