Mom's Night Out - Featuring Pampering and Freebies - Returning to Meadowbrook Mall

By Julie Perine on April 23, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Last year, Meadowbrook Mall hosted a Mom’s Night Out so that women could shift the focus on themselves and indulge in some pampering. The idea went over pretty well, so the mall invites area women to come out for round two.

“We started the event because we really were touched by the concept,” said Robin Urquhart, marketing director for Meadowbrook Mall. “Mother’s Day is meant to be for moms, but it’s truly the moms who have to organize everything, even on that day. They are making sure that their husband’s mom or their own mom or grandmother is made to feel special on that day.”

With the theme “Pink Pajama Party,” this year’s event will be held May 7 and participation is free for all area moms.

“Just like last year’s event, it will offer women the chance to get out of the house for a couple of hours to enjoy pampering, beauty, fitness and fashion tips - as well as the chance to win some great prizes,” Urquhart said.

The first 200 moms to register at Sears Court beginning at 6 p.m. will receive free Pink tote bags and event programs.  From 6-8:30 p.m., women can browse vendors offering everything from mini manicures and makeovers to a cooking demonstration and the sampling of chocolate-covered strawberries. Among companies and organizations represented will be Clarksburg Beauty Academy, Elder-Beerman, Sephora, Anytime Fitness,  Chick-fil-A, Chrizart Creations, Clarins, Clinique, Bridgeport Benedum Festival, the Bridgeport High School DECA Club, Elizabeth Arden, Estee Lauder, Fancy Fruits/Fresh Fruit Arrangements, Hilton Garden Inn, JCPenney, JCPenney Salon, Kitchen Collection, Lancome, Nerium, Piercing Pagoda, Pure Romance, Regis Hair Salon, Victoria’s Secret, WV Fitness Zumba, Yankee Candle and Young Living Essential Oils and Bridgeport Conference Center. Also on hand will be WBOY12, featuring meet and greets with news personalities Gretchen Ross, Christian Claus and Snowbird. Ross and a life-size likeness of Ellen DeGeneres will be available for the taking of selfies.

Activities will take place throughout the mall at each of the four WBOY12 Relaxation Stations, located near the entrances to the Elder-Beerman Home Store, Sears, JCPenney and Target.

GFWC Bridgeport Junior Woman’s Club will also be on hand, collecting supplies for HOPE, Inc.  Domestic Violence Center. Current needs include diapers, wipes, bath towels, washcloths and personal hygiene items. Those making donations will receive free pretzel coupons from Auntie Anne’s Pretzels.

Following vendor exhibits and demonstrations, live prize drawings will take place near the entrance of JCPenney. The drawings begin at 8:30 p.m. and all registered participants are eligible. They must be present to win.  All registered will be eligible to win Mommy Makeovers from JCPenney/Sephora. Included is a custom makeover performed by a Sephora product consultant, choice of professional hair salon service (up to $50 value), a consultation with a wardrobe specialist and a $100 JCPenney gift card. Other prizes include a full car detail from Custom Detailers & WBOY12, fitness club memberships, Yankee Candle gift basket, Mother’s Day Brunch for two at Bridgeport Conference Center, a bottle of Nerium Firm and a handmade Chrizart copper cuff bracelet.

“Mom’s Night is time just for mom. It’s a free event and it revolves around having fun and making sure moms are pampered by each and every vendor,” Urquhart said. “Some of the vendors will have merchandise for sale, but all of them will have some type of entertaining or pampering activity for moms.”

It’s a concept, she said, which strikes a chord with most moms.

“It’s only two and a half hours long, but that’s two and a half hours more than moms usually take to do something just for them and we’re thrilled to be able to provide it for them,” Urquhart said.

The celebration continues Saturday, May 10 with a Mother/Daughter Look-A-Like Contest.  Moms and daughters may begin registering at noon at the WDTV5 Event Center. The contest will begin at 1 p.m. with a performance by the Neon Express Cloggers to follow.
