By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 16, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to USA Today, one of the biggest retail giants in United States history is continuing its slide to poentially closing. On Monday, Sears Holdings announced it would be closing another 142 stores - both the Sears and Kmart brands - as part of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process.

West Virginia did not walk away unscathed. And neither did North Central West Virginia.

The Sears closing list in the articles states that the Sears situated at 9520 Mall Road in Westover (Monongalia County) will be closing. On the list of Kmart stores, the store situated at 4th Avenue West in Charleston will be closing.

Kmart recently closed its location at Eastpointe in Clarksburg. Sears closed its location at the Meadowbrook Mall in Bridgeport on March 27, 2017.

Sears Auto Center did not close at the Meadowbrook Mall. That business remains open.
