A new Main Street business delivers a service that is on residents’ wish list year-round. Parties by Design creates custom high-end parties – complete with detailed décor – which can be held onsite, at private homes or the venue of your choice.

 

Owner Melinda Petroff said her new business - which officially opens Wed., Dec. 14 - has been a dream in the making for several years.

 

“When my daughter was little, I remember looking at the beautiful premium party décor often sold at Chasing Fireflies and other sites such as Etsy and thinking that it was far too expensive for a one-time event,” she said. “At that time, I thought how nice it would be if there was a business that reused that beautiful décor.”

 

Parties by Design is located at 449 East Main Street, with two party rooms available. The first floor is wheelchair accessible. The second-floor room features an open ceiling and French Doors which open to a covered patio complete with firepit. Parties can overflow onto the third floor available for extra seating, games and other party needs.

 

Petroff reuses premium décor such as large themed props, standees, table décor, gorgeous flowers, elegant candles, holders and other centerpieces, ceiling drapes, a myriad of lighting options, custom back drops, real cloth tablecloths, elegant and fun table skirts, as well as beautiful serving dishes, cloth napkins real china and utensils which always enrich party appeal, Petroff said.

 

“Parties by Design really wants to help busy moms by planning and executing their events with ease and simplicity,” she said. “The fact that it is extremely affordable is a huge plus.  We save the clients not only money, but many hours of precious time, better spent elsewhere.”

 

Children’s party themes span a range of popular and classic characters, including Mickey and Minnie, Sesame Street, Frozen, Pokémon, Frozen, Strawberry Shortcake and Harry Potter themes. Barnyard, construction, unicorn, fairy, nautical, circus, magic, puppy, kitten and various other animal themes are available, as well as dozens of other ideas. Favors and two games – complete with prizes - based on the age of the child, are included in birthday party prices.

 

Children and adult holiday parties, from St. Patrick’s Day and Valentines to Halloween and Christmas, are also available at Parties by Design.  

 

“We also have themes that can center around an activity, such as slime parties, art parties, pottery, tie-dye, cupcake baking, spa parties, tea party, movie night, smores and camping,” Petroff said. “We do true blacklight parties that will amaze the kids, glow parties, dance parties, camp tent sleepovers and so many more.  Plus, many creative one of a kind themes, custom designed from scratch, for that specific client.”

 

For this holiday season, Parties by Designs features winter woodland, classic gold and silver, elegant teal, purple and green, plaid Christmas and country Christmas themes. 

 

“It is all beautiful and will provide a warm wonderful atmosphere for your celebration,” Petroff said.  “In addition, to help busy moms and the kids too, we are offering a special night for kids to make their family some gifts, while mom has a night to shop and decorate.”

 

Among other specialties of Parties by Design are art parties, moms’ night out, family reunions, bridal and baby showers, spring/summer garden parties, card and game parties, club meetings and “pop-up shops,” enabling small businesses a venue for sales. Also offered throughout the year are activity parties, such as tie dye, slime, cupcake decorating, jewelry making and various other activities.

 

Petroff said she is happy to bring a business to the community that not only offers custom party planning, but brings parties to life in a very affordable manner.
