Bridgeport Police have recovered what they believe is the blaze orange toboggan used to cover the face of an armed bank robber, who just before noon Monday held up the White Oaks branch of Huntington Bank. The hat was found on Adamsville Road, about a mile off Saltwell Road.

Police are urging anyone with tips leading to the identification of the vehicle and/or suspect to call Bridgeport Police Department. Tips can be left anonymously via the tip line 304-848-6149 or by contacting Lt. Gary Weaver at 304-842-8260.

An image of the suspect was captured Monday by surveillance video. He is described as being about 5’ 6” tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue “West Virginia” zip-up hoodie with a dark undershirt, wide-leg jeans and dark tennis shoes. He was seen driving a four-door light blue sedan, similar to the one pictured below.

On Monday, Huntington Bank closed shortly after 11:54 a.m. incident. Thereafter, Bridgeport Police combed the area for the suspect or clues to his whereabouts. Today, Lt. Gary Weaver and members of various law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the incident, Police Chief John Walker said.

The bank was open for business today. Huntington Bank spokesperson Bill Eiler said the bank is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for yesterday’s robbery at the White Oaks branch.

“We are currently working with and getting information through the FBI and Bridgeport Police Department,” Eiler said.
