FROM THE OFFICE OF MONONGALIA COUNTY SHERIFF PERRY PALMER

 

On March 27, 2024, at approximately 1:09 p.m., Granville Police Department were dispatched to the area of Lazzelle Union Road near Scotts Run for a body found in the river. 

 

Once they established that this was outside their jurisdiction, they contacted the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office to respond to investigate. 

Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives arrived and investigated the scene. With the assistance of the Granville Police Department, Granville Fire Department, Monongalia County EMS, and Monongalia County Medical Examiners, the body was removed from the water. 

 

The body was then transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
