Precipitation Creating Treacherous Conditions; Roads, Bridges and Sidewalks Extremely Slick

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 08, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Though air temperatures have climbed to above freezing, road and ground temperatures are still below freezing, resulting in a glaze of ice on roadways and sidewalks.

Do not let temperatures fool you. Use caution and be alert for slick road, bridge and sidewalk conditions.

Snow and sleet are creating poor driving conditions as roads are slick and visibility is low. Freezing rain which preceded the snow created icy, dangerously slick conditions.

A weather advisory for mixed wintry precipitation is in effect throughout West Virginia through 11 p.m. Monday. The full spectrum of freezing rain, sleet, snow and rain is possible. Total ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected; ice resulting in very slippery conditions on sidewalks, roads and bridges.

Snow and sleet amounts up to three inches are possible, but could eventually be subject to melting from temperatures above freezing and rain.
