The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) invites the community to join its celebration of National Manufacturing Day on Friday, Oct. 3.

RCBI will open its doors and host technology demonstrations and tours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centers in Bridgeport (2400 E. Benedum Industrial Dr.), Huntington (1050 Fourth Ave.) and South Charleston (100 Angus E. Peyton Dr.). The events are free and open to the public.

"Manufacturing Day is for everyone," said Charlotte Weber, Director & CEO of RCBI. "We hope everyone can join with us as we celebrate makers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs and innovators in West Virginia."

This is the third year RCBI has participated in the annual national event, started in Oct. 2012, designed to raise the public’s awareness about the important role the industry plays in our economy, expand the public’s knowledge about today’s manufacturing and enhance public perceptions about rewarding manufacturing careers.

According to Weber, events at RCBI Huntington also will include the first West Virginia Makes Festival. The Huntington festival, which begins at 10:00 a.m., includes a design challenge that’s open to everyone. Details for the Huntington event are online at www.rcbi.org/wvmakes.
