By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on August 13, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to the West Virginia Division of Highways and its District 4 office, a large sink hole that formed in the Shinnston area recently was the result of mine subsidence. The Ten House Shinnston Fire Department's Facebook page earlier released information showing the sink hole.

The DOH confirmed the issue with the road closure Monday. The WVDOH's local office is advising motorists that Route 19/28, Landing Way (Enterprise Bethlehem Road) will be closed until further notice as a result of the mine subsidence.

Motorists are advised to be cautious and plan for an alternate route for their commute. Detours include Route 12 to Route 19 and Route 19/2 to Route 19.
