By Julie Perine on September 25, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

At 7:41 a.m., Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to a truck fire along Saltwell Road, near the 707 intersection.

A large service truck had wrecked, landing on its top off the side of the road. The truck caught fire and the driver was able to not only get out of the vehicle, but also extinguish the flames, said Bridgeport Fire Captain Scott Wilburn.

The truck driver was not injured in the incident.

The incident occurred just outside of Bridgeport Fire Department’s jurisdiction.

“It was actually in the Shinnston area, but they couldn’t get out so they dispatched our substation on it,” Wilburn said.

West Virginia State Police responded to the accident, which remains under investigation.
