Sheriff's Deputy Among Six Injured in I-79 Wreck Monday; Officer Hit by Car, Knocked 40 Feet off Road

Six people, including a Marion County Deputy, were sent to the hospital after an accident on I-79 southbound near mile marker 139, Monday evening.
 
According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police, authorities responded to the scene of tractor trailer fire around 8:45 pm. The Deputy involved was attempting to get traffic to slow down and move to the left lane for the safety of authorities.
 
The Deputy, whose name is not being released at this time, was knocked approximately 40 feet off the road. The Deputy was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in stable condition. There's no word on the extent of injuries.
