The groundbreaking celebration, marking the start of construction for the brand new SHOP ‘n SAVE in Bridgeport, is set for September 10 at 11 a.m. SHOP ‘n SAVE owners Tom and Debbie Jamieson, who have spent more than 25 years in the grocery and retail business, are bringing a convenient grocery destination to downtown Bridgeport. 

 

“This new development has been a long time coming and we are excited to finally get started,” said Tom Jamieson, SHOP ‘n SAVE owner and developer of Bridgeport Commons. “The Bridgeport community is looking for a convenient grocery store that will meet all of their needs. We are building a neighborhood store that is dedicated to providing value, in-demand products, everyday essentials and an elevated grocery experience…it’s the ‘just right’ thing to do.”

 

The Bridgeport Commons shopping center will be anchored by the 43,000 square-foot SHOP ‘n SAVE located at 460 East Main Street. The new full-service grocery store, set to open summer of 2016, will offer residents a wide variety of fresh produce, prepared food options, expanded dairy and frozen foods section, full-service deli, bakery, fresh seafood and meat with on-site butchers. The Bridgeport Commons shopping center will also have a mid-large tenant and a smaller tenant. 

 

As the “just right” grocer of Bridgeport, the new SHOP ‘n SAVE will provide customers with double coupons, weekly specials and everyday savings. Participation in the SHOP 'n SAVE Perks Card will provide special discounts, along with Pump Perks redeemable at over 130 participating SUNOCO gas stations, including two located within a mile or two of the store.

 

According to a market study, there was a niche opportunity for a grocery store in downtown Bridgeport. Tom Jamieson capitalized on this study, along with the personal requests from Bridgeport community members, and will open his family’s ninth independently owned and operated SHOP ‘n SAVE.
