Sprint Store at Charles Pointe Under New Ownership; Building Customer Base in Area

Under new ownership since May 1, the Sprint store on Conference Center Way in Charles Pointe is a relatively new business. District Manager Justin Humphrey said the store is Sprint’s third in Bridgeport; the others located on Emily Drive and Meadowbrook Mall. He shared why the most recent location was appealing.
“Charles Pointe is a fairly new and down the road there will be a lot of new development. We wanted to get in early,” he said. “We really liked the spot a lot. Jerry Dove is an area that is focusing on building out new stores, so we see a future here. That’s why we wanted to move in.”

Located between Firehouse Subs and Mia Market, the Sprint store offers new lines of wireless service and sale of various cellular accessories.

“Sprint is very competitive in pricing and we also do a lot of marketing events around the community,” said Humphrey, adding that the store will be part of a grand opening of nearby Starbucks, slated for mid-September.

Sprint is a national carrier with towers and stores located in all 50 states. The company owns towers and rents from other carriers, giving Sprint a broad base of coverage. Recently, the company has placed a big emphasis on creating quality networks in rural areas, investing more than $350 million in outlying areas of West Virginia, Humphrey said.

“We put up towers on a monthly basis,” he said. “We want to build a customer base and take care of those customers.”

Formerly known as Sprint Corporation, Sprint Nextel Corporation merged with Nextel Communications in 2005. Providing wireless services and internet, Sprint is currently ranked the fourth-largest mobile network operator in the U.S. and serves more than 50 million customers.

Sprint at Charles Pointe is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday.
