Status of Meadowbrook Mall's JCPenney Location as Well as All in West Virginia Announced by Chain

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 05, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The names of the first wave of 154 JCPenney stores to close this summer was released last night, and while that's not good news on the retail front there was good news for Bridgeport and West Virginia.

The location at the Meadowbrook Mall in Bridgeport is safe. In fact, no stores in West Virginia will be closing as JCPenney made the announcements as part of its bankruptcy plans.

JCPenney is one of two remaining anchor stores at the mall. Target is the other, while Sears and Elder-Beerman have both closed without replacements.
