Stonewall Resort Chef Shane Hawkins Named First-Round Champ in IACC Copper Skillet USA Cook-Off

Weston – Shane Hawkins, PM Lead Line Cook at Stonewall Resort, was named Junior Division (under age 26) Champion of the first round of the 2017-2018 International Association of Conference Centre’s (IACC) Copper Skillet USA Cook-off, resort officials announced. 
 
In 2017, Hawkins made it to the final round of the competition, ultimately placing second in the IACC Junior Chef Global Competition. 
 
“Chef Hawkins is a very talented chef, as his performance in the IACC Copper Skillet Cook-Off this year and last year suggests,” said Jason Jonilonis, director of food and beverage for Stonewall Resort.  We are thrilled for his success and pleased that Stonewall Resort guests are able to enjoy his talents on a daily basis.” 
 
Hawkins’ winning dish included a Mustard Seared Filet with Red Wine Poached Mushrooms, Crispy Trout with Lemon and Thyme and Roasted Tomato Grits. 
 
Hawkins will go on to compete in the 2nd round (of 3) in early March. 
 
The IACC Copper Skillet competition is designed to highlight the artistry and skills of IACC-member conference venue chefs from around the world and to honor their contributions to a shared goal of providing an outstanding conference experience.
