StoryWalk Kicks off at Bridgeport City Park

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on April 05, 2022 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Bridgeport StoryWalk kicked off for the season Saturday at Bridgeport City Park. Kids and families enjoyed a stroll along the City Park trail, while reading the 2022 debut book, "Sally Book Bunny and The Search for The Lost Key" by local author, Michael Gorzka, an employee of Bridgeport Public Library.

The book will be in place throughout the month of April, said Project Coordinator Melanie Groves.

The StoryWalk features signs along the walk trail, each containing book pages which kids and families can read as they stroll. The signs also feature QR codes which can be scanned to hear the pages read aloud.

Also taking place the month of April is an Easter coloring contest, which will run April 2-15.

Financially supporting StoryWalk are the Bridgeport Lions Club, Hearing Solutions Services, Dr. Mark Povroznik, Ralph and Barbara Bean, Miley Legal Group, and Jon Griffith.

"We also have help and support coming from Read Aloud WV Harrison County Chapter," Groves said.

Members of the public are encouraged to enjoy books throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons. On April 30, the May book, "Mommy I Need a Hug" by Colleen Driscoll, will be released. June will feature "Chicks and the City" by Matt Browning and July's book will be "Nugget's Haircut" by Meo Bonnstetter. Subsequent books will be announced.
