Bridgeport High School alums Logan Dodd and Ricky Menendez AKA SuperSmash have released a brand new music video. The rappers have also released touring and performance plans which have materialized since they signed in late-November with Do Good Entertainment, an affiliate of Icon Studios.

“We perform in Jacksonville, Fla. March 20 for a showcase that will hopefully launch our first tour,” Menendez said.

The duo – which has gained industry attention for singles including the mega popular “Pete Rose” - performs March 20 at the APCA Showcase in Jacksonville, Fla. Thereafter, they will embark upon a nationwide tour, stopping at college campuses, military bases and even cruise lines.

“We have already booked a Spring Fest in Mississippi,” Menendez said. “We actually headline the whole show with a 45-minute performance.”

The guys, who were a few short months ago recording with a waterproof GoPro and utilizing their own amateur editing skills, feel like they are living a dream.

“Even though I am seeing things unfold right in front of me, it is still so hard to believe,” Menendez said. “I honestly wake up so grateful for this opportunity every single day. It is a chance that I will never take for granted and I just keep thanking God for everything along the way. If the ride ends here I am proud, but we aren't stopping!”

Dodd shares the process – seemingly magic – behind “California Dreamin’” - the first song he and Menendez wrote at Icon Studios in Atlanta.

“We were at our first recording session at Icon Studios and Nate Butler and Jack Papers were engineering our session,” he said. “They were playing beats for us and told us to pick one we liked and write a song.”

The beat came on and Dodd started humming a chorus – known as a hook in the rap world – after which Menendez threw in a melody and the words flowed from both artists.

“It took about 30 minutes to an hour to write the whole song,” Dodd said. “We wrote it right there on the spot.”

There's been a third Harrison County native added to the SuperSmash mix.

Joel Cano, a graduate of Robert C. Byrd High School, will serve as the group’s DJ.

“It was hard to find someone with our style and energy,” Dodd said. “He was a perfect fit!”

Menendez said to expect more where that came from.

“I know every time we get the chance to step up to the plate, we are confident in hittin’ it out of the park,” he said.
