Suspended Magistrate, City Resident Gorby May Take Stand Today in Sexual Abuse Case Against Him

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 01, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to this report from WDTV, suspended Harrison County Magistrate and Bridgeport resident Mark Gorby will testify in his own trial, most likely today. Gorby is accused of sexually abusing an 8-year-old female between 2005 and 2006, and then again in 2009.

While Gorby has not been called by the defense to testify yet, he did speak in court on Thursday, the third day of his trial.

Without the jury present, Judge Thomas Steptoe Junior invoked past cases when reminding Mark Gorby that the burden of proof lies with the state, and that he could decline to testify to avoid possible self-incrimination.

In response, Gorby uttered "I understand."
