The Bunker Steakhouse Coming Soon to Bel Meadows Golf Club

Last August, Bridgeport’s Randy Workman became co-owner of the Bel Meadows Golf Club. At that time, he announced he had plans to open a Boston Beanery restaurant in that facility. Plans have changed, but a brand new restaurant is about to open at the Mount Clare golf course.

At the helm is Rob Davis, who is also part-owner of Brickside Bar & Grille on Lodgeville Road. In the new project, Davis is joined by his nephew Zach Davis. The pair has been hard at work doing major renovations to the downstairs clubhouse banquet facility which will soon open its doors as the Bunker Steakhouse.

That opening is projected for Nov. 8, Robbie Davis said.

“It’s going to be a very nice sit-down restaurant – open to the public - with only 10 menu items, but they will all be perfectly and consistently done,” he said. “We’re going to have a patio with fire pits where people can come outside, sit and look at the beautiful views. This course is constantly changing – and changing for the better.”

The inspiration came along when Workman approached Davis with the idea of revamping the banquet facility into a unique, quality public restaurant.

“His vision - and what I want to do here is different than anything else out there,” he said. “When Randy asked me to do it and I looked off the deck and took in the view, I knew that would happen.”

Taking in that scenic view, Davis decided that the name, “The Bunker Steakhouse,” was a given.

“It was appropriate and sounded perfect for a golf course,” he said.

On the menu, Davis said, will be New York strip, filet mignon and either a T-bone or porterhouse steak, along with salmon, another fish entrée, pasta, appetizers and gourmet pizzas.

“We’re bringing three brick ovens in here,” he said.

Davis said the entire restaurant space – from floor to ceiling - has been gutted and rebuilt.

“The only area that is original is the bathroom area and it has been completely remodeled,” he said.

The Davis team took over the banquet building three months ago by signing a long-term lease. The upstairs banquet facility has remained open and is available for catering events, such as weddings, Christmas parties and office meetings, he said.
