The Compassion Experience Opens in Morgantown Offering Glimpse Into Living With Poverty

In America, $2 might buy your morning cup of coffee. In developing countries, however, over 700 million people live on less that that each day.  From March 31 to April 3, The Compassion Experience will visit the Morgantown area to host an interactive journey into the lives of three children living in the Philippines, Guatemala and Uganda.

The self-guided tour will take place at Chestnut Ridge Church on Cheat Road in Morgantown and will use modern technology to simulate the children’s homes, schools and markets as they struggle with issues rarely seen in American homes. The stories of hope that are portrayed in the exhibit are all from the perspective of a child and will enlighten area residents as they get a glimpse into what life is like in developing countries.

The Compassion Experience is free and open to all ages, but reservations are recommended. The exhibit includes 3,000 square feet of space, featuring the homes and environments highlighting the lack of hope that is often present among those stuck in the cycle of poverty.  Attendees will also be given ways to help alleviate the challenges and will see the impact on the children as they find hope once again.

One in five children die before the age of five. Many of these deaths are preventable with education and resources provided by Compassion International.  Those attending the exhibit have the opportunity to change the outcome for the children featured and to see first-hand how little changes can make a big difference.
