Thursday Night Rollover Accident Sends Five to Hospital; Halts Southbound Traffic

A rollover accident on I-79 resulted in several hospital transfers and halted southbound traffic for some time. The accident, which according to the Harrison County Bureau of Emergency Services was a single-vehicle accident, occurred at about 8:20 p.m. at the 117 mile marker in Anmoore. Responding to the scene were Anmoore Fire and EMS, Bridgeport Fire and EMS, Harrison County EMS and Stonewood Fire Department. A total of five individuals were transported to United Hospital Center. Investigating the accident is the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. At 8:45 p.m., Bridgeport Police utilized the Nixle system to alert motorists that southbound traffic was shut down and encouraging them to use an alternate route. Initial reports indicate that heavy rain may have played a role in the accident.
