Tractor Trailer Rolls Twice Across I-79 After Impact with Toyota

By Julie Perine on March 29, 2017 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A tractor trailer traveling southbound on I-79 rolled twice, ultimately plunging over the guard rail. A Toyota RAV4 Limited was coming off the southbound ramp at the 121 mile  marker (Meadowbrook Mall) when the driver failed to yield to the right of way of oncoming traffic and was struck by the tractor trailer. Witnesses reported that the female driver made a very brief stop, but then accelerated onto the highway. The driver's side of the RAV4 was torn away. Traffic was reduced to two lanes. Several members of law enforcement were on the scene as were fire and emergency personnel. The driver of the RAV4 was transported to the hospital with potential head injuries. The accident happened at 10:42 a.m. The RAV4 was towed from the scene by Dan Riggs Towing. As of 12:45 p.m. the semi was still on the scene. More information will be reported as it becomes available. See a video clip of the scene below.
