A two-vehicle accident during the Monday morning commute hour resulted in entrapment and extrication by Bridgeport Fire Department. Fortunately, there were no hospital transports.

The accident happened at 8 a.m. at the 123 mile marker on I-79.

“A small passenger vehicle – a little sedan – hydroplaned into a truck, also traveling southbound,” said Bridgeport Police Officer L.D. Janssen. “It made contact on the front fender, knocked (the pickup) off-road and the momentum carried it into a ditch and onto its side.”

The pickup was occupied by a driver only, a female, who had to be extricated from the vehicle. She signed off on medical treatment, Janssen said.

After making impact, the sedan spun over into the median, ending up out of the path of travel. Traffic was not impaired.
