A two-vehicle accident on Meadowbrook Mall Road resulted in one transport to United Hospital Center.

The accident occurred at 5:42 p.m. in the vicinity of Outback Steakhouse.

“Both vehicles were going the same direction and it was a side swipe,” said Bridgeport Police Officer M. Hammond.  “The vehicle in the right-hand lane was a red Jeep Wrangler. He was merging left before the curve in order to turn right into Outback, but in doing so, he didn’t realize that a red Hyundai Sonata in the left-hand lane had passed his vehicle and hadn’t cleared the lane. He ended up colliding with the Sonata’s side door and rear panel.”

There was minor damage to the Jeep and the occupants, who were from out of town, drove from the scene, Hammond said.

The driver of the Hyundai refused medical treatment, but a passenger was transported via Bridgeport Emergency Services to UHC with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

The Hyundai was towed from the scene.
