United Hospital Center (UHC) Family Medicine Residency Program has once again earned accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

The Review Committee commended both the program and the hospital for demonstrating substantial compliance with the ACGME’s Program Requirements and/or Institutional Requirements without any citations.  The decision from the Council accredits the residency program for one full year.

“I am proud of our achievements at the UHC Family Medicine Residency Program.  These highly skilled physicians now have successful practices in the area; some are community preceptors, hospitalists, and even program faculty,” said Eric J. Radcliffe, MD, program director of UHC Family Medicine Residency.  “The UHC Family Medicine Residency Program is an excellent training program boasting ten consecutive years of achieving a 100 percent board exam pass rate for both the ABFM and AOBFP exams – achieving scores that exceed the national average.”

The UHC Family Medicine Residency Program consistently achieves full ACGME accreditation in allopathic and osteopathic medicine.  The original program began teaching allopathic residents in 1975.  In 1991, the program became dually accredited and began training osteopathic residents as well. Due to UHC’s commitment to education, the Family Practice Clinic has produced quality medical care and excellent family medicine physicians for more than 40 years.

This family medicine-based hospital program has 21 residents and only accepts seven residents annually.  In addition to excellent academics, the program consistently earns excellent ratings from patients, residents, and faculty on various performance and satisfaction surveys and questionnaires.

The Family Practice Clinic is an NCQA Certified Patient Centered Medical Home where quality performance is measured in patient outcomes. UHC’s residents learn to manage patients with a wide variety of medical conditions as members of an interdisciplinary team that includes a care manager, and nurse practitioner, etc. The devotion of our team of physician faculty, PharmDs, and support staff provides an energetic educational experience that is structured to meet all requirements, while meeting the goals of each individual resident physician.

“The introduction of our Integrative Medicine Track is an exciting complement to our Osteopathic Track and our extensive elective rotation options to ensure every resident has the opportunity to become the family physician he or she has dreamed of becoming,” Dr. Radcliffe said.
