UTC Students Excel at SkillsUSA State Competition; Four From BHS Earn Medals

United Technical Center students achieved success at the annual 2024 SkillsUSA State Competition. Twenty-five students were awarded medals at the awards ceremony on Saturday, March 23..

This year’s UTC winners represented Allied Health, Collision Repair Technology, Cosmetology, Drafting, Electrical Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Masonry, Power Sports & Equipment, and Robotics-Drone Technology.

The school was awarded thirteen gold medals, ten silver medals, and two bronze medals.

Gold medal winners were Tyler Bryant, Lincoln High School; Chaela Harrison and Jeffery Lunsford Jr, Bridgeport High School; Landon Jacobs, Robert C. Byrd High School; James Marple, Liberty High School; Landon Jackson, Home School; and Caleb Coffman, Camryn McIntyre, Ruth Moore, Tobias Seargeant, Luke Shaffer, Andrew Short, and Isaac Way, post-secondary adults.

Silver medal winners were Michael Buck, Liberty High School; Zach Cottrill and CJ Shugars, Lincoln High School; Landon Moore, Bridgeport High School; Olivia Payne, Ben Stout, and Launa Walls, Robert C. Byrd High School; Haiden Hollen, Home School; and Landon Beverly and Kaleb Alford, post-secondary adults.

Bronze medal winners were Aiden Webster, Bridgeport High School and Landon Workman, Lincoln High School.

SkillsUSA is a national Career Technical Student Organization connecting students, teachers, and industry to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel by providing educational programs, events, and competitions that support career and technical education in the nation’s classrooms.
