At its meeting on September 16, 2016, the Board of Directors of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) granted initial accreditation to the United Hospital Center’s Diploma programs in Diagnostic Medical Sonography in both the vascular and general concentrations. The CAAHEP Board acted upon the accreditation recommendation by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).

“UHC’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is proud of our faculty and staff for their dedication and hard work in establishing such rigorous academic standards,” said Rose Trupo, R.T. (R), R.D.M.S., M.B.A., education coordinator and program director of sonography and radiologic technology education. “This distinction only further ensures the integrity of our student’s credentials as they pursue careers in the field of sonography.”

Through the accreditation process, which includes a thorough review of the program, curriculum, faculty, staff and resources, as well as a site visit of the program, the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at UHC in Bridgeport, West Virginia, was determined to be in substantial compliance with the nationally approved Standards and Guidelines for educational programs as established by the Diagnostic Medical Sonography profession.
