United Hospital Center Hosting Blood Drive in June in Observance of Trauma Awareness Month

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 23, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

United Hospital Center is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at United Hospital Center, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330, on the first floor in classrooms one and two, and invites the public to donate in honor of Trauma Awareness Month.

Trauma patients may need a dozen or more blood products, depending on the severity of their injuries. Regular blood donation by members of the community ensures there is an adequate supply on hand for trauma and other patients.

Participating donors at the June 5 drive will not only be helping save the lives of patients in local hospitals, they will also receive their choice of a “Together Let’s Do Amazing” T-shirt or a stainless steel water bottle.

The blood drive is conducted by Vitalant (formerly Central Blood Bank) in partnership with United Hospital Center (UHC). In addition to UHC, Vitalant supplies blood products to WVU Medicine, Ruby Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Medical Center, Jefferson Medical Center, Camden Clark Medical Center, Potomac Valley Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital.

To make an appointment, please download the Vitalant-Pittsburgh mobile app for your smart phone; visit the website vitalant.org and click on the orange “Donate” button; or call 877.25.VITAL (84825). Use the group code W4310001for the UHC drive.
