United Way's Annual Hot Wing Eating Contest Jan. 15

The United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties is excited to announce its annual Hot Wing Eating Contest, set to take place on January 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings.This fiery event promises to be a fun-filled evening, all in support of a great cause.
Contestants can register for the event on the United Way website at UnitedWayHDC.org. The entry fee is $20, and participants must be 18
years or older and in good health to compete.

This event is a fundraiser, and contestants are encouraged to gather as many sponsors as possible. Sponsors can choose to donate any amount per wing eaten or make a flat donation to support their contestant. The competition will feature two main challenges:
- Contestants who raise the most money by the number of wings eaten in eight minutes.
- Contestants who eat the most wings in eight minutes.
Martin Howe, Executive Director of the United Way of Harrison and Doddridge Counties, explained the significance of these fundraisers: “Events like the Hot Wing Eating Contest are crucial for our organization. They not only bring the community together in a fun and engaging way but also provide essential funding for our Partner Agencies. The money raised directly supports local initiatives that improve education, financial stability, and health in our community. We are grateful for the support from our participants and sponsors.”
Trophies will be awarded in the following categories:
- Men’s Division
- Women’s Division
- Overall Champion
In addition to the main event, special awards include:
- The Little Chicken Trophy: For the contestant who can't handle the heat.
- The White Oaks Corporate Cup Challenge: Currently held by last year’s champions, Antero Resources, this trophy goes to the business that raises the most money overall.
